Student event: "Your Career in Industry and Academia"

Date and Time

17:15 - 18:45 Sunday 22 September 2013

Brief description
The MICCAI Student Career Event, organized by the MICCAI Student Board, is the opportunity for all students to have answers to their most pressing questions related to a career in academia or industry. Leaders in the field as well as young professionals sit at different tables through which students can circulate to come and ask them questions. The Student Career Event is also a fantastic opportunity to network with people from the medical imaging community in a friendly atmosphere.

Venue:

Noyori Conference Hall

Schedule:

MICCAI Student Career Event
The goal of the event is to give students the opportunity to ask questions about their career. Questions can be about anything from what companies and labs look for when hiring or how to plan a research career, to questions about what you think will be the next important topic in medical imaging and computer-assisted interventions.

The event will begin with a plenary to welcome the students and a keynote. The group will be then split up for speed dating. There will be tables for about six to eight students, a junior professional and a senior professional. During the event, students will switch tables three times, so they will meet different professionals (from both academia and industry). Each table session will last for about 15 minutes.

The junior professional should be someone who recently made the jump from PhD student to staff, so that the students can relate to them and hear a recent success story. The senior professional will be someone established in the field that can talk to the students about their extensive experience. We would like each senior professional to invite a junior professional of his/her choice.

This year, the event will take place in the Noyori Conference Hall on September 22, from 17:15 to 18:45 according to the following schedule.
